We all know that feeling. We walk into our closets and feel overwhelmed on what we should wear to the point that we think we don't have anything to wear at all. Sometimes all it takes is a simple clean out and organization to make us realize how many outfit opportunities we have. We like to work in a 3 step process.
Take every single thing out of your closet. That's right, even that box on the very top shelf. And just to add a little more excitement, take everything off of the hangers as well.
Purge, Purge Purge. This is the most challenging step and one that is much easier to do with an extra set of helping hands. We have a map that we supply our clients with to help during this phase. Eliminating things that aren't utilized anymore and things that do not hold sentimental value allows us to feel refreshed.
Put everything back in it's perfect spot. This is the exciting phase. We like to talk to our clients and determine what functions best for them and adjust to that plan accordingly.
Now remember, everyone is different and your closet should be set up the way you like to shop your closet. Here is how I shop mine:
Tank tops first in color order (White, Black, Gray, Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet, Browns)
Short sleeve tees in color order
Short sleeve button ups in color order
Long sleeve tees in color order
Long sleeve button ups in color order
Sweaters in color order
Hoodies in color order
Blazers in color order
Jackets in color order
Pants are done in a similar fashion:
Jeans in order of light to dark wash
Dress pants in color order
Skirts in color order
Dresses in color order
Once everything is back in order, allow yourself sit back and fall in love with your newly organized space. We suggest to do monthly to quarterly maintenance in order to keep this space exactly how you like it.
Happy closet cleanouts, friends!
